Servel RGE400 Americana propane gas powered refrigerator freezer parts

We do not have any Servel parts left in stock, except for a few that are reserved for previous clientsServel RGE400 gas refrigerator parts have been unavailable from Dometic® since they stopped importing Servel back in 2018. Aftermarket thermocouples and burner assemby parts are fairly interchangeable and thermostats for other gas refrigerators are available from RV dealerships. Please let us know where you are able to source certain aftermarket parts and we will share sourcing. Should you find a used Servel for scrapping-out parts, beware of disturbing those cooling coil radiator pipes on the back. Closed-loop cooling system is filled with a caustic ammonia based coolant, not freon gas like an electric refrigerator. Gas appliance parts require professional installation by a licensed plumber. Triple check their work for gas leaks and mind your venting. Click for troubleshooting tips for any brand of gas refrigerator.

Thermostat part #2007199041 and Thermocouple part #2931496042 are no longer in stock and not distributed by Dometic in the United States, only from Servel out of Europe. Run through the troubleshooting tips detailed below before replacing the thermocouple and clean the end of probe with steel wool. We failed to document specifications and find suitable replacements before we sold the last of our factory parts, so please let us know where you are able to source aftermarket parts and we will share that information.

Direct vent kit part #3108708540 is no longer in stock. Before installation of any propane refrigerator, check with local building department since fresh air intake and direct venting or exterior burner flue exhaust may be locally required on any and all gas appliances. Direct vent kit installation manual contains specifications and detailed images for air intake in addition to direct exhaust venting. Vertical draft vent exhaust, as seen on propane hot water heaters, can be installed above the burner flue. In some states, a 1500 Btu burner may even be considered a 'vent-less' propane appliance in an open kitchen.

Door gasket kit part #3103718.098 is no longer in stock. Aftermarket gasket strips with door channel barb are available online or you can use any generic self-adhesive refrigerator 'D door' rubber gasket, automotive weather stripping draft seal strips, or high density foam rubber window weather stripping. Be sure to clean the door well with solvent before installing adhesive for a solid seal. Servel part installation manual provides detailed removal and installation guidelines.

Click for troubleshooting tips for any brand of gas refrigerator

Servel RGE400 gas refrigerators (and parts) have been unavailable from Dometic® since they stopped importing them in 2018. We cannot offer any alternative since no other brand of gas refrigerator has ever come close to Servel performance and longevity. Freezer temperature and parts availability were always problems with other brands; an expensive proposition when they often last less than five years. Residential clients are moving towards powering up conventional electric refrigerators rather than going with gas powered fridges. Power consumption is improving and insulation can be added to allow shut-off for hours overnight, greatly reducing the battery bank requirements and size of photovoltaic or wind array.

Continuously produced by Electrolux® of Sweden since 1925, in 1956 the American manufacturing rights were sold to Whirlpool® which discontinued Servel production in the 1970's. Electrolux reintroduced their Servel RGE400 to America in 1989, distributing through RV appliance manufacturer Dometic of Elkhart, Indiana. Starting in 1990, there was a recall with offer of rebate on a new unit. Original Servel gas refrigerators manufactured between 1933 and 1957 were encouraged to be removed from service. Over time and without routine cleaning, the gas burner and flue above will become fouled by carbon buildup, especially when improperly adjusted. Carbon buildup on the burner and flue can produce substantial amounts of carbon monoxide when the burner is fired in an unvented installation. Building regulations generally require fresh return-air supply and not installing unvented gas appliances in sleeping rooms or air tight living areas. Keep your burner and flue clean for best operation and least carbon monoxide production.

Servel RK400 kerosene refrigerator - no parts available

Servel RK400 and parts are no longer available since they stopped exporting to their United States distributor, Dometic, back in 2018. We do not stock any parts, but replacement #23 burner assemblies are available directly from AladdinLamps.com Kerosene powered refrigerators need their wicks adjusted weekly and their exhaust flues cleaned periodically to avoid soot build-up and smoking. Brass #23 Aladdin burner can interchange parts with almost any other Alladdin burner except the #32. Each #23 wick burns for ~1,200 hours (50 days), so you need eight for a full year of 24/7 operation. Keep at least one extra spare flame spreader, 67/40 flue, and wick raiser on-hand.
